Lecturer Pool for Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry AY 24-25	East Bay
The successful candidate will teach up to 15 contact hours per week in undergraduate laboratories and/or lectures, with assignments being consistent with the candidate’s expertise and training, as well as the specific needs of the Department. Most of our instructional needs will be in introductory chemistry courses. In addition to classroom teaching, the candidate will be expected to hold office hours for students and perform the other normal duties associated with teaching. M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry, applicants with degrees in related fields to chemistry will be considered if they have a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in chemistry or biochemistry.

The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences seeks part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for teaching appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2024, and Spring Semester, 2025. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree and an accredited Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology. Assignments might include teaching one or more basic and advanced course(s) for undergraduate and graduate students. There are approximately 200 majors and five regular faculty.

It is recruiting in all areas, but has a particular need for instructors in: health/medical humanities, health disparities/health equity, bioethics, health law, health economics, health regulation, health care payment systems, and health data & information management. A doctoral-level degree, e.g. PhD, DrPH, MD, JD, or proof of candidacy for a doctorate is required; applicants with a Master’s Degree with accompanying certification and/or work experience will be considered. Candidates with experience teaching within a population perspective through a lens of social determinants (including structural racism) are desired. The Department prefers applicants with teaching experience at the college/university level, primarily in-person. Appointments are non-tenured and renewable annually dependent upon satisfactory performance, budget considerations, enrollment, and programmatic need. Appointments will be made as one of two classifications (Coaching Specialist or Coaching Assistant) depending upon contract length and rate of pay. Regardless of classification, the working title of this position shall be Assistant Coach. An Assistant Coach appointment may be an FLSA exempt position depending on job duties.
