Radio and Media Coordinator (Administrative Support Coordinator II), Coyote Radio & Advertising

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Dean of Arts & Letters and Program Coordinator, the Incumbent will lead operations at Coyote Radio and Coyote Advertising. The incumbent will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of Coyote Radio/Coyote Advertising. The incumbent should have good communication skills, the ability to work well with others, as well as the ability to train students.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Office Operational Support

  • Lead operations at Coyote Radio and Coyote Advertising.
  • Open and maintain a smooth-running office with minimal supervision to meet University, College, and Department deadlines and demands.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and other departments and colleges on campus, drawing on broad knowledge and interpretation of departmental and university policies, procedures and practices.
  • Answer phone calls and walk-in inquiries from faculty, staff, and students with professionalism and mutual respect.
  • Assist with purchasing of new grant afforded technology.
  • Assist with purchasing of Coyote Radio & Advertising promotional materials.
  • Lead installation of new grant afforded technology and equipment.
  • Monitor student assistants/check timesheets and provide guidance for work.
  • Arranging off-campus printing of the paper- obtaining quote, requisitioning, submitting invoices to A/P for payment.
  • Ordering keys for S.A.s and obtaining permits for after-hours access. (when working in the Chronicle office)
  • Ordering supplies/equipment (when budget allows)
  • Invoice ads, make deposits, submit chargebacks for on-campus clients.

Program Support

  • Create Spots/production for coyote radio and advertising.
  • Assist with training of Comm 2392 practicum students and students from varying disciplines across campus.
  • Create media kit (rate sheet, ad size samples and a current sample newspaper)
  • Handle insertion orders for ads.

Student Assistant Leadership Support

  • Lead the Student Assistant hiring in the department.
  • Train students on the daily operations of the department.
  • Set priorities for the student workers and is accountable for the work flow and completion of work assigned.
  • Process monthly payroll timesheets for students and evaluate monthly attendance records
  • Process hire and termination paperwork.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or its equivalent AND five years of progressively responsible experience in general office clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent

 

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a working knowledge of Adobe Audition and other media technology, specifically for radio and production.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist, along with the ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to the work area.
  • Understand problems from a broader perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas, along with the ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions. 
  • Effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations, along with the ability to use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects.
  • Possess the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse campus community.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA degree or greater in a communication-related field.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,681 - $4,600 per month

Classification Salary Range: $3,505 - $5,508 per month

Position Information:

Work status: Full-time/Temporary (0.75 Time base, 30 hours per week), Non-Exempt

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 3:00pm, (1 hour lunch break)
