California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is located in San Bernardino in the Inland Empire, 60 miles east of Los Angeles and operates a satellite campus in Palm Desert located in Coachella Valley. CSUSB serves approximately 20,000 students, of which 81% are first-generation college students and graduates about 5,000 students annually. JOB SUMMARY
The Department of Marketing at CSUSB is searching for a new Department Chair. This invitation is for candidates internal to the Department of Marketing at CSUSB only. The ideal candidate will be an experienced faculty member with demonstrated leadership and administrative skills, an established record of scholarly research and evidence of commitment to student success. The Chair is expected to provide leadership in shaping and facilitating the future of the department including faculty and staff development, faculty mentoring, and strategic planning. The Department Chair will serve in a leadership capacity in support of the Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administrative strategic mission. He/she will provide academic and administrative leadership and facilitate the orderly conduct of the affairs of the Department and the College.
TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
The successful candidate will provide responsible and professional leadership in managing the day-to-day operational needs of the department, including supervision of support staff, scheduling courses, evaluating, and mentoring faculty, fiscal management and allocating facilities and equipment for teaching, research, and service activities. The Chair will also represent the Department and College with on and off-campus constituencies and maintain positive public relations with these groups. In addition, he/she is encouraged to develop and participate in activities that support the university’s strategic plan. This plan emphasizes: a) student success; b) faculty and staff success’s) stewarding resources; d) community engagement and partnerships; and, e) enhancing the campus identity. The Chair will also provide strategic direction for the department.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in hand by time of appointment. A doctoral degree in Marketing or related field by time of appointment.
- Applicants must be a tenured Professor.
- The area of specialization in marketing is open.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- The successful candidate must have excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as an excellent record of teaching and scholarship, preferably with a record of significant research.
- Previous Chair experience is a plus.
