Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Cross Country & Assistant Coach for Track and Field will assist in developing a competitive Division I Cross Country and Track & Field program by working directly with the Head Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Coach. Responsibilities include recruiting and mentoring qualified student-athletes, designing and conducting effective practice sessions, developing competitive strategies, and providing leadership in competitions. You will also oversee student-athlete academic progress, ensuring their overall success and eligibility. Additionally, you will ensure strict compliance with NCAA, university, and conference regulations related to recruiting, eligibility standards, ethical practices, playing seasons, and managing extra benefits.

  • Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes.
  • Provide leadership and integrity to the program.
  • Plan, organize, and motivate practices and competitions.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA regulatory policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of: demonstrated coaching and recruiting experience; and/or professional league playing experience; and/or experience which would provide adequate training to coach at the Division I collegiate level.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledgeable and compliant with NCAA regulatory policy governing their sport; as well as NCAA and conference policies governing recruiting, eligibility, ethical standards, playing seasons, and extra benefits.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain outstanding student-athletes.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to teach, mentor, and work with a diverse student population.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
  • Classification: Coaching Assistant / 2382 / 0
  • The anticipated HIRING RATE is $5187.60 (Part Time) per month. The salary range for this classification is: $5187.60 (Part Time) - $6317.85 (Part Time) per month.
  • HOURS: Part Time; 33 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.  
  • This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined.
  • The individual hired for this role will physically work on campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
