Position Summary
San Diego State University is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Warehouse/Mail Worker to support campus-wide receiving, distribution, and mail services. This role ensures the accurate delivery, shipment, and tracking of materials and equipment to meet campus operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Warehouse Operations
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and packing slips; enter data into receiving systems and resolve discrepancies.
- Pack, label, and ship outgoing materials via carriers such as UPS, USPS, and freight vendors; ensure timely delivery to campus departments.
- Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, dollies, trucks) to load, unload, and transport goods and supplies across campus.
- Maintain a clean, organized warehouse and ensure accurate sorting and distribution of U.S. and campus mail.
- Support equipment tagging, surplus removal, and inventory tracking using barcoding systems and maintain accurate property records.

Department Summary
Under the general direction and supervision of the Assistant Director, Logistical Services, Shipping and Receiving Services (SRS), and Mail Services (MS) are jointly responsible for the receipt of all incoming material for the campus community and the delivery of such material to the appropriate campus departments. SRS & MS are responsible for the receipt, packing, and shipment of all outgoing material as well. The departments provide documentation and verification of all material to ensure it is in accordance with the purchase orders. Responsibilities also include the receipt and tagging of University equipment. SRS & MS are also jointly responsible for receiving, sorting, and distributing U.S. and campus mail. It also distributes other campus-related materials. The departments serve as the liaison between the University and the U.S. Postal Service.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
