Position Description

Job Overview

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Veterans Services, the Veterans Affairs Coordinator will help coordinate the distribution, acceptance, and processing of applications for five different veteran’s benefits programs for approximately 1900 students, including approximately 1000 California Department of Veterans Affairs College Fee Waiver Program for Veterans’ Dependents. Provides general information and advises the general public including, but not limited to, prospective applicants, students, faculty and administration regarding program requirements and benefit-related issues. The position interprets the requirements for benefits acceptance and makes independent decisions regarding eligibility and entitlement to veteran benefit programs. Serves as a resource to other University staff for issues and problems related to veteran’s programs. Serves as a resource to the external community regarding veteran’s benefits requirements, policy and procedures.

Position Summary

Veteran Benefits & Outreach Coordinator (Student Services Professional II)

This is a full-time, temporary, exempt position ending on or before June 30, 2028. Reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations. The university reserves the right to terminate this appointment earlier than the scheduled expiration date.

Pay, Benefits, and Work Schedule

Anticipated Hiring Salary Amount: $5,083 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,083 - 7,228 per month

Salary is commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year; 14 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.

This position is required to work in person on campus.
