Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Academic Advisor provides comprehensive academic guidance, holistic Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) support, and campus engagement while contributing to admissions and ongoing departmental collaboration. Responsibilities reflect a strong commitment to student achievement, policy interpretation, and consistent participation in divisional initiatives.
- Provides academic advisement to new, continuing and readmitted students including pre-health advisement when needed.
- Provides additional holistic support services to EOP students and participates as needed in transitional programs, EOP Admissions and EOP campus wide activities.
- Attends staff meetings, development/training sessions, and other duties as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Explains university degree requirements, academic policies, procedures, and regulations; assists students with educational planning, course selection, and other advisement related issues.

Qualifications
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a job-related field.
- Equivalent to two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field.
- A Master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of university degree requirements, general education and major curricula, academic policies, procedures, and regulations. Working knowledge of student development theory, holistic advising practices, and equity-centered student support principles.
- Demonstrated skill in providing academic advisement to new, continuing, readmitted, and pre-health students, including development of individualized educational plans. Ability to interpret and clearly explain complex academic information to diverse student populations.
- Strong analytical skills to assess academic standing, evaluate progress toward degree, and identify appropriate resources or interventions. Effective interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and campus partners.
- Ability to support EOP students through holistic services, transitional programming, and admissions-related activities. Proficiency in utilizing student information systems and advising technologies to document appointments, review records, and track student outcomes.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and contribute positively to a team-oriented environment.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

- Classification: 3082 / SSP II / Grade 1
- The anticipated HIRING RATE is $ 5083 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $ 5083 - $ 7228 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.
- This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
- The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
