Working Title:  Group Fitness Instructor

The purpose of this recruitment is to produce a pool of qualified applicants to call upon for temporary appointments. Temporary appointments may be canceled or extended at any time. Classification Salary Range: $16.90 -$140.00 per hour

The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

 

Position Summary:

The ToroGX Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for leading safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes that support participant wellness and satisfaction. This role delivers high-quality instruction to individuals of varying fitness levels while fostering an
inclusive, motivating, and positive class environment. The Group Exercise Instructor follows established policies and professional standards to ensure participant safety, program consistency, and an exceptional recreation experience.
Example group fitness formats include (bit not limited to): Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Aqua-Aerobics, Bootcamp, Cardio/Strength based, Dance, Martial Arts, etc.

This is a part-time position with a variable schedule based on class assignments, participant demand, and facility needs. Early morning, evening, and weekend availability may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructs safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes using proper technique and professional judgment
  • Demonstrates and cues exercises appropriate for participants of varying fitness levels and abilities
  • Provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for all class participants
  • Ensures participant’s safety during classes and within the facility or studio space
  • Prepares class plans that align with class format, certification standards, and organizational expectations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR/AED certifications
  • Current nationally recognized group fitness certification (e.g., ACE, AFAA, ACSM) or equivalent pending format

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively lead group classes and communicate instructions clearly
  • Knowledge of standard practices related to group fitness
    instruction and recreational sports
  • Ability to work independently and follow established procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialty certification(s) appropriate to the class format taught (e.g., yoga, cycle, Pilates, strength, dance)
  • Experience instructing group fitness classes in a recreation, collegiate, or community setting
  • Proficiency with audio/visual equipment used in group fitness environments
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fitness levels
