| The Physician is a non-exempt, hourly, non-benefitted member of Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS) and plays an integral role in supporting the department’s daily operations and clinical services. Primary responsibilities include providing medical diagnosis and treatment, supporting the operational needs of SHCS, and participating in practitioner peer review, staff education, and administrative meetings as needed. The Physician also contributes to SHCS’s ongoing efforts related to re-accreditation, HIPAA compliance, health education, and teaching activities.
This position involves regular exposure to blood, blood products, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases, as well as occasional contact with physical and chemical hazardous materials such as liquid nitrogen and trichloroacetic acid (TCA). Routine exposure to needles and other sharp instruments is expected. The incumbent must also be able to respond to on-campus medical emergencies, which may require walking outdoors while carrying medical equipment and/or driving a minivan.
The incumbent must comply with all applicable local and state laws governing CSU practices, perform within the full scope of their medical specialty, and adhere to all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures established by their respective department(s).
