Project Researcher/BRC-BIO (UEC) San Bernardino - San Bernardino Campus
The person on this position will focus on identifying genetic and phenotypic responses over time and space, in altitudinal gradients. This project uses an introduced species to investigate the potential of range-shifts as a coping mechanism for plant populations responding to climate change. In the position of project researcher, responsibilities include doing field work and collecting samples, developing experiments with plants in growth chambers, working closely with herbaria to have access to the temporal samples, conducting wet-lab work, bioinformatic analysis, writing scientific articles and presenting the results at different conferences. Additionally, this position involves lab management duties and mentoring of masters and undergraduate students working in the project. The selected candidate will also coordinate outreach activities within campus and with local schools. Finally, there is the possibility to assist in course preparation. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a leadership role and enjoys mentoring students. Other important skills are keeping the lab well organized and running smoothly. Overall, we are looking for previous leadership experience, excellent communication, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm for learning new skills.
