| Under the direction of the Chief Research Officer, the Project Technologist provides specialized, high-level technical leadership to the Office of Academic Research (OAR) by architecting and operationalizing information systems that modernize and automate sponsored research administration. The incumbent serves as OAR’s primary technologist for analytics and AI initiatives, translating complex, multi-step pre-award and post-award business rules (grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements) into secure, scalable, datadriven solutions that reduce administrative burden and improve compliance. Core responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining enterprisegrade Power BI research and funding dashboards for executive decision support; developing AI/agentic applications and chatbots that guide faculty and staff through funding discovery, policy interpretation, and reporting; and integrating data across campus and OAR platforms to create a single, governed source of truth for the Chief Research Officer. This work is missioncritical to OAR’s ability to grow research activity and is performed on campus in close collaboration with leadership and administrative units.
