University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, full-time, “non-exempt”, benefited position through 9/30/2022 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance). 

Location: Palm Desert, CA

Salary: $3,494-$4,150 per month

Department Summary:

EOC is one of the Federal TRIO programs funded through the U.S. Department of Education. CSUSB’s EOC program is designed to identify, select, enroll, retain, serve, and assist 850 low-income, first-generation adults throughout the Coachella Valley. This program provides support to individuals who wish to complete their General Education Diploma (GED) and enroll in a program of post-secondary study, or are college-eligible individuals who wish to enter a program of post-secondary study, or individuals who previously stopped-out of a collegiate program who wish to re-enter a post-secondary program of study.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week. Schedule to be arranged, but typically, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm though some nights, weekend work may be required.

Typical Activities

Under minimal supervision of the Director of EOC, the Program Coordinator will work independently to:

Under the supervision of the Director of the Educational Opportunity Center, the EOC Program Coordinator will work with limited supervision to:

Recruit and retain program participants;

Ensure that EOC is highly publicized throughout the service area;

Maintain up to date knowledge of college entrance application processes, financial aid requirements, scholarships, programs of study, high school equivalency programs and available resources;

Provide academic and career coaching to participants;

Support the Project Director with completion of annual and other reports;

Implementation of Program activities, curriculum and services;

Coordinates, develops, and presents student success workshops on study skills, financial literacy, goal setting, time management, work readiness skills, etc.

Collaborates with the Office of Pre-College Programs, local education agencies, adult school staff, community agencies, institutions of higher education, veteran serving organizations, other campus entities, and business partners to inform of project opportunities and recruit eligible participants;

Conduct information sessions and orientation for prospective participants;

Maintain accurate, audit-ready records including student files and service records,

Provide accurate and timely updates to the participant database;

Assists with developing and disseminating flyers, brochures, and web content regarding program services, goals, objectives, successes, and outcomes.

Manage a caseload of participants;

Attend meetings and events as requested;

Performs all other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in Counseling, Education, Social Work, Psychology or related field;  

Experience: Experience working with students who are first-generation, historically underrepresented, low-income, disabled, and/or academically underperforming.  Two years experience in an educational setting;  

Additional Qualifications: Strong and effective communication and public speaking skills;  Experience working with targeted population;  Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Valid California Driver’s License and proof of vehicle insurance are required;  Must provide his/her own transportation to satellite sites 

Preferred Qualification:

Bilingual in Spanish is preferred; Applicants that have experience in overcoming barriers similar to those of Educational Opportunity Center students are desirable.

CSU policy requires all faculty, staff and students (on or off campus) to be immunized (i.e. vaccinated) against the virus that causes COVID-19.

As part of the campus community, CSUSB requires all UEC employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or present a medical or religious exemption and any appropriate back up documentation.  Fully vaccinated is defined as having the last immunization shot at least 14 days prior to the date being evaluated.  Current and new employees of UEC are required to adhere to this policy by September 20, 2021 and remain in adherence after that date. All employees are also required to submit a daily health screen to access any on or off campus location.
