Position Description:
As a Graphic Designer Student Assistant, under immediate supervision, you will:
Design and Create Basic Materials: Develop digital and print resources, including event promotions, office materials, and social media content, using your expertise in design software and creativity to solve visual communication challenges.
Collaborate and Innovate: Work independently or as part of a team, following project guidelines while bringing fresh ideas and creative interpretations to enhance outreach efforts.
Social Media: Curate, schedule, and monitor social media content to engage prospective students and their families effectively.
Administrative Support: Perform tasks such as data entry, circulating print materials, managing walk-in traffic, taking phone messages, and other duties as assigned.
Lead by Example: Serve as a role model for other student assistants and provide guidance to fellow graphic designers.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Under Immediate Supervision, duties include but not limited to, Design and Creative Development:
- Develop basic print and digital marketing materials, including flyers, posters, brochures, presentations, and social media graphics.
- Use design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva to create professional and engaging visuals.
- Collaborate with the Outreach and Student Recruitment team to conceptualize and execute creative projects that align with the office’s goals.
- Maintain an organized library of design files, templates, and digital assets. Social Media Management
- Create and schedule engaging social media content to promote events and resources.
- Monitor and respond to interactions across platforms. Administrative and Operational Support
- Assist with preparing materials for outreach events, including printing, organizing, and distributing promotional items.
- Provide design support for internal and external presentations.
- Assist with data entry, file organization, and other administrative tasks related to design projects.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
- Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
- Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.
Required Qualifications
- Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
- Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
- International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card
Preferred Qualifications
- Federal Work-Study eligible status students are preferred but not required.
- Avid knowledge and experience in all Adobe Creative Suite programs and Canva
- Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- File and data organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Attend work shifts on time and allow adequate notification for coverage when unable to attend a work shift.
- Possess and maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and work area
- Ability to productively work independently and as part of a group
- Students selected must be available to work during regular business hours and according to the office's needs.
- Receive and provide feedback
- Flexibility to learn new skills, styles, and modes to satisfy each project's goals and creative vision and the Career Center overall.
- Available to work 10-20 hours per week, with a two-semester commitment
Compensation and Benefits:
Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.00 per hour.
The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.
Position Information:
Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal
Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).
This is an 'On-Campus Only' position. Student Employees are not eligible to telecommute at any time.
As of January 1, 2022, the CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy prohibits the hiring of employees to perform CSU-related work outside the state of California.

Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) may be required for student employment purposes. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check when required may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Possession of a valid Driver's License may be required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.
