Job Summary:

Redlands Adult School serves students 18 to 80 have are learning English and basic academic skills, preparing for the Citizenship exam or GED exam, or pursing a high school diploma. We want to hire students to be part-time tutors to support students in their goals of learning English, improving academic skills and passing the Citizenship or GED exam. Tutors will work with students individually or in same groups on a student’s assigned coursework.

This position requires applicants to be available on Mondays-Thursday, 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM and Fridays 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM including period. Schedules are flexible within those days and time frames. Applicants must be able to work well with students and help them with course work, be a team player, be able to input grades, and provide support to teachers and staff. 

Responsibilities: 

Under direct supervision, duties include but not limited to:
- Work with students individually or in groups on assigned coursework.
- Assist teacher with student documentation tasks.
- Assist counseling staff with enrollment activities.
- Assist office staff with office tasks

Minimum Qualifications:

REQUIRED:
- Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff,and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
- Special Qualification: Registration as a CSU student, Work-Study Eligible
- As a Bridge Student Assistant, the student need not be registered as a student, but must have been enrolled as a CSU student the previous term and is registered for the following term.

Required Qualifications:

REQUIRED:
- Maintain a 2.5 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
- Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate) per semester
- Must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current award year and demonstrate financial need
- Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress standards
- Must be a U.S. citizen, eligible non-citizen, or permanent resident

Special Conditions: 

FWS Off-Campus Instructional Student Assistant/
FWS eligible, enrolled CSU, San Bernardino students are eligible to apply for FWS student employment positions. This position will work off-campus at a designated location receiving direction via a Federal Work Study campus collaborator.

Compensation and Benefits:

Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: (Dete4rmined by Work Study). 

The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Position Information:

Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal

Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).

Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

Student Employees are not eligible to telecommute at any time.

Conditions of Employment

Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) may be required for student employment purposes. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.  Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check when required may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
