Department of Communication & Media TAs (Teaching Associates) teach COMM 1006 Oral Communication courses, following a successful application process, which involves a formal interview, and after training during the summer sessions (typically in July). The TAs are the instructor of record for their sections of COMM 1006 Oral Communication, and as such are responsible for all aspects of the preparation of the course.

| The Graduate Assistant position is distinguished from those classifications used for undergraduate student help in the instructional program who perform clerical or other routine tasks such as grading examinations, recording grades, etc., by the following: Graduate Assistants are provided part-time employment and practical experience in fields related to their advanced study. Graduate Assistants can also provide professional non-teaching assistance to faculty members. Graduate Assistant work may involve supervising students in a classroom, workshop, or laboratory (where final responsibility for the class and its entire instruction, including the performance of the Graduate Assistant, is vested in a member of the faculty); training students in the use of equipment or other resources; assisting faculty with research and preparation of course materials; participating in the evaluation of students’ work; tutoring students; and other related work. Graduate Assistants are not responsible for the instructional content of a course, selecting student assignments, planning of examinations, determining the term grade for students, instructing the entire enrollment of a course, or providing the entire instruction of a group of students enrolled in a course. Graduate Assistants may not be employed to assist in a course in which they are enrolled, nor should they be consulted regarding the grading of their peers. |

| The Department of Biology at California State University, San Bernardino is seeking part-time graduate student teaching assistant applications from qualified individuals for our San Bernardino Campus (SBC) and/or our Palm Desert Campus (PDC). Candidates for this position should be graduate students in the MS Biology program and should possess good organizational and communication skills with a drive to enhance student success. Prior teaching experience is recommended but not required. This position will involve teaching laboratory or discussion sections, mainly in our foundational level courses including Introduction to Biology Lab, Principles of Biology I and II, Microbiology for Allied Health Majors, and Human Anatomy and Physiology for Allied Health Majors I and II. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students. Candidates must also have a commitment to teamwork and work with the course coordinator and other instructors where appropriate to allow for effective and equitable instruction across different course sections.
This is a pool of graduate students for the department to consider for teaching assistantships, and all appointments are temporary. Decisions on teaching assistantships are made on a rolling basis, normally between several months before and up to the beginning of the academic term. | The Department of Art & Design, as part of the College of Arts & Letters at CSUSB, offers bachelor's degrees in art history, design, studio art, and art education, plus a graduate program offering an MA in Art and an MFA in Studio Art. The department serves approximately 500-600 students in its majors per year, plus other students from across the campus.
