Department Summary

CSUSB’s Division of Student Affairs strives to create a dynamic learning environment through various programs and services that promote student success, enhance the learning experience, and engage students intentionally with communities. The Vice President’s Office for Student Affairs supports all division efforts through strategic efforts that increase awareness and create opportunities for partnerships that foster meaningful student experiences at CSUSB.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Confidential Aide to the Vice President for Student Affairs and leadership of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the incumbent's primary responsibility is to promote and advance the mission of the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) and its departments by developing artistic, graphic design and print and multimedia materials.


Employment Status: Full-time, Probationary, "Non-Exempt" position (with the possibility of converting to permanent).


First Review Deadline: This position will remain open until filled. The initial review of applications will begin on November 22, 2021.


Work Schedule

  • Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; evenings and/or weekends may be scheduled on a limited basis to support division-wide programming.

Key Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of applicable desktop publishing and graphic software packages. Knowledge of specific software packages and processes such as photo scanning.
  • Ability to use software features to generate graphic displays.
  • Working knowledge of campus protocols for document layout, format, and style.
  • Working knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Ability to manage own projects and meet required timelines.
  • Ability to judge spatial relationships, linear sequence and related graphic and design characteristics.
  • Working knowledge of layout needs for photography and printing processes.

Education and Experience

  • Entry to the first level within this classification requires one to two years of related work experience or equivalent training and experience, and the ability to effectively use applicable software tools and features to create a variety of printed materials and presentations. This background normally would be achieved through formal training or coursework with desktop publishing and graphic software packages.


Anticipated Hiring Range: $2,912 - $3,417 per month

Classification Salary Range: $2,912 - $4,635 per month

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
