California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is located in San Bernardino in the Inland Empire, 60 miles east of Los Angeles and operates a satellite campus in Palm Desert located in Coachella Valley. CSUSB serves approximately 20,000 students, of which 81% are first-generation college students and graduates about 5,000 students annually. JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation and Counseling at California State University, San Bernardino invites applications for tenure-track, open rank professor position in the Rehabilitation Counseling program beginning August 2023. We are seeking energetic and innovative candidates who have a background in traditional rehabilitation counseling and/or clinical rehabilitation mental health counseling with particular interest and practice in clinical rehabilitation counseling with emphasis on equity, social justice, and culturally sustaining approaches. The Rehabilitation Counseling Program is a CACREP accredited master’s degree program. Bilingual applicants and those with multicultural experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

Responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in the evenings, practicum and fieldwork/placement supervision, scholarly activity, curriculum development, and service to the university and community. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be required to teach a range of courses in rehabilitation counseling at the San Bernardino campus.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students across a wide range of disciplines.

In addition, new faculty are encouraged to develop and participate in activities that support the University's strategic plan. This plan emphasizes: a) student success; b) faculty and staff success; c) stewarding resources; d) community engagement and partnerships; and, e) enhancing the campus identity. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have an earned doctorate in Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Psychology, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred Education accreditation: CACREP and/or CORE accredited institution.
  • Evidence of experience teaching students in higher education
  • Evidence of research and scholarly activity
  • Degree in hand by time of appointment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and scholarly activity at the university level. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in the application.
  • Demonstrate evidence of scholarly activity, publication, grant writing and innovation is valued, as demonstrated commitment to equity, social justice, diversity, and culturally sustaining approaches in the field of rehabilitation counseling.
  • Experience in developing and sustaining community partnerships, practicum and fieldwork supervision.
  • Knowledge of accreditation, program planning, and evaluation.
  • Experience in student advising and mentoring.
  • Active involvement in professional rehabilitation counseling and related organizations.
  • CRC, or CRC eligible and Licensed or licensed-eligible as Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor – LPCC in the State of California.
  • Personal and professional commitment to multicultural education, diversity, and social justice.

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with CSUSB. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.
