The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, full time “non-exempt”, benefited position through 2023 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance). 

Salary: $3,119-$5,792 per month

Location: Indio 

Program Summary: 

Cal State San Bernardino Reentry Initiative (CSRI) is an education-based comprehensive program that offers services to parolees returning to the Inland Empire.  With a wide variety of offerings, CSRI addresses each parolee’s criminogenic needs, aiming to increase community safety, break the cycle of incarceration, and reduce the risk of individuals reoffending.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week. Schedule to be arranged, but typically, Monday-Friday from 8:45 am - 5:15 pm though some nights, weekend work may be required.

Typical Activities

Under minimal supervision of the Center Manager, the Casework Supervisor will work independently to:

The casework supervisor oversees the casework functions of the center, including auditing case files and ensuring procedures are followed.  The incumbent may also be required to provide receptionist and clerical duties, as well as providing general customer service.  Additional duties include but are not limited to:  file, prepare charts and perform data entry as assigned; participate in special team projects to collect data to help improve center programs; participate in special trainings as assigned; assist in facilitating orientation meetings to explain program rules and regulations; facilitate learning groups each week; participate in community networking opportunities, collaborate with subcontractors and other community members in regards to service provisions; assist in the scheduling of services and classes offered at the Center;  participate in weekly team meetings and provide case presentations; assist with overseeing the functions of the Center in the absence of Center Manager; perform all other duties as assigned.  The incumbent will supervise the other caseworkers jointly with the Center Manager, conducting staff performance evaluations, training, and employee discipline, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • 1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or a related field AND Two years’ experience supervising casework staff. 
    • 2. High School Diploma AND Six years’ of full-time experience as a journey level counselor in a program serving the criminal justice population.
  • Other:  Applicants must be self-starters and have the ability to work both independently and as team members.  Applicants must possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employers, staff and students.  Applicants must possess the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information along with the ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups of people.  Applicants must possess a working knowledge of correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, to be able to write clear and concise reports and express ideas and recommendations orally.  Applicants must have proficiency in using standard office software such as Microsoft, Word, Excel, Access, email and internet programs.
