Under close supervision, the Student Advisor Trainee assists with the delivery of student services by learning to provide general information and support to prospective and current students regarding program offerings, admissions, enrollment processes, and student resources. The incumbent performs structured tasks using established guidelines and procedures, including assisting with application processing, maintaining student records, and supporting SEVIS-related activities, while referring moderate to complex or non-routine issues to higher-level staff.

Under immediate supervision, this position serves as a Graduate Student Assistant on the Technology Infrastructure for Data Exploration (TIDE) project (https://tide.sdsu.edu/), a multi-campus initiative funded by the National Science Foundation to create the first computational core facility focused on supporting faculty research within the California State University (CSU) system. Designed to advance machine learning and AI research, TIDE features a high-performance computing architecture built on GPUs, powerful processors, and ample storage. The Graduate Assistant will support facilitation and outreach efforts, which may include conducting HPC and AI research (e.g., reading papers, testing models, and building tools), maintaining websites and documentation, responding to support requests, and enabling use of TIDE by developing software containers, data workflow scripts, and CI/CD pipelines.
