University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, Exempt, Full Time, Benefited position through 6/30/2025 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance). 

Salary: $7,875.00-$9,625.00 per month.

Location: CSRI San Bernardino.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week. Generally, Monday through Friday, 8:45 am to 5:15 pm. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Typical Activities

Under minimal supervision of the Director of Operations, the Associate Director of Operations will work independently to:

Operational Leadership:
  • Assist the Director of Operations in overseeing daily operations across all centers.
  • Ensure that operational practices align with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Support center managers in addressing operational challenges and improving efficiency.
Subcontractor Management
  • Oversee subcontractor relationships, including contract management and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure services are delivered effectively and meet contractual obligations.
  • Develop and maintain a database of subcontractors and vendors for operational needs.
Housing Placement Coordination
  • Collaborate with community partners, housing agencies, and landlords to identify and secure housing options for participants.
  • Oversee the housing placement process to ensure timely and appropriate accommodations for participants.
  • Track and report on housing placement metrics and outcomes.
  • Staff supervision and support
  • Directly supervise center managers, providing support and guidance to ensure operational and programmatic success.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with team members to enhance communication and coordination.
Program Compliance and Quality Assurance
  • Work closely with relevant staff to ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and grant requirements.
  • Lead efforts to improve compliance, staff training, and program audits.
Community Engagement
  • Collaborate with relevant staff to build partnerships, manage events, and foster community relationships.
  • Oversee volunteer recruitment, training, and retention initiatives.
Administrative Duties
  • Assist with budget preparation, resource allocation, and expenditure monitoring.
  • Prepare reports on operational performance, subcontractor activity, and housing placements for senior leadership.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Director of Operations and operational staff.
Travel required. Travel includes but not limited to: organizational centers, community events, housing site visits, funder required meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education & Experience:
    • Master of Arts degree (or its equivalent) and five years of experience in operational management, including services to criminal justice populations. (Additional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.) OR
    • Bachelor of Arts degree (or its equivalent) and seven years of experience in operational management, including services to criminal justice populations. (Additional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.) OR
    • High school diploma (or its equivalent) and fifteen years of experience in operational management, including services to criminal justice populations.
      • This experience must include:
        • Ten years of experience providing social services to difficult-to-serve populations
        • Five years of experience supervising staff
        • Five years of program responsibility in the field of service to criminal justice populations.
  • Other:
    • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
    • Knowledge of housing programs, subcontractor management, and compliance practices.
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners and vendors.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and operational management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with participants in and owners of sober-living homes and facilities.
  • Experience with the Automated Reentry Management System (ARMS) software used by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
