As a division of Academic Affairs, Academic Success & Undergraduate Advising (ASUA) provides advising and academic support to all CSUSB students. Exceptional writing and communication aptitude—able to skillfully manage a wide range of personalities and maintain sensitivity to diverse populations who may need additional tutoring assistance. Must be able to help with various formats associated with business, but also general mechanics and grammar

Junior-level in good standing with a GPA of a 3.5 or higher in English/writing courses

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at California State University, San Bernardino invites applications for a new Department of Physics and Astronomy chair to begin December 2025. This is a full time tenure track position with a half-time academic year faculty appointment and a half-time 12 month chair appointment. The ideal candidate will be an experienced faculty member with demonstrated leadership and administrative skills, an established record of scholarly research, and evidence of commitment to student success. The Chair is expected to provide leadership in shaping and facilitating the future of the department including faculty and staff development, faculty mentoring, strategic planning, and student recruitment and success initiatives. The Department Chair will serve in a leadership capacity in support of the mission of the College of Natural Sciences. They will provide academic and administrative leadership and facilitate the orderly conduct of the affairs of the Department and the College. Preference will be given to candidates with familiarity in navigating large public education systems, such as the CSU. The Department offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in Physics, with minors in astronomy and applied physics, and interdisciplinary M.S. degree in Materials Science, which is associated with the Center for Advanced Functional Materials(https://materials.csusb.edu). Preference will be given to candidates who are able to teach courses within the full range of undergraduate physics courses and graduate courses in support of the Master Program in material sciences. CSUSB Geology Teaching Associates (TAs) may be responsible for one or more GEOL 1000L Introductory Geology Laboratory sections, or may support a faculty member in an upper division geology class. TAs teaching GEOL 1000L are solely responsible for their assigned section(s), including being present in person for all class meetings during the semester, being available for meetings with the laboratory coordinator and other teaching assistants, maintaining the shared lab space including cleaning up after assigned lab sections, assessing student work, and meeting with students outside of class during regularly scheduled office hours. TAs supporting an upper division geology class will work with the faculty member teaching the class to determine the TA responsibilities. |
