Working under a physician’s supervision and following established standardized procedures and/or process protocols, the Nurse Practitioner collaborates with the SHC Executive Director and supervising Physician(s) to develop and refine these procedures and define the position’s scope of practice. Responsibilities include performing physical examinations; diagnosing, treating, and managing illnesses and injuries; ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests; and counseling patients on preventive health. The Nurse Practitioner also leads infection prevention and control initiatives for the Palm Desert Campus SHC and participates in health promotion activities on campus. TAs teaching GEOL 1000L are solely responsible for their assigned section(s), including being present in person for all class meetings during the semester, being available for meetings with the laboratory coordinator and other teaching assistants, maintaining the shared lab space including cleaning up after assigned lab sections, assessing student work, and meeting with students outside of class during regularly scheduled office hours. TAs supporting an upper division geology class will work with the faculty member teaching the class to determine the TA responsibilities.
